GOOSE BAY.

Goose 20bay

The following photos sent in By Pip Lancaster.
Pip said, I served on other RAFTC staging posts,
(I'm sure that's what we called them)
during my five years 1942/6) Bermuda, Dorval and Jamaica.
His time at Goose Bay was 1944/45.

From left - to right,
Vern Jones. Wireless Op. Fine pianist I think he had been with the BBC (Wales).
Bert was Corporal I think in admin. office. "Mally" Wireless Op. Lightweight boxer - amateur.
"Mike" also Wop. A really good entertainer, lovely sense of humour.
Am sure he could have turned professional post war.

Our chorus "girls". Great fun. Maybe someone will recognise themselves.
There were American, Canadian and our small RAFTC contingents at Goose.
Our RAFTC concert, lit by Aldis lamps (my end of the operation) was a roaring success.

Me again in the Fordson truck. Never driven before.
For first couple of weeks I stayed in first gear until I got the hang of the "crash" box

I have lost this photo, but will keep looking for it.

I believe we had just one WAAF on camp. Can you pick her out? The rest of these "Ladies" are Lads!
This was our concert group called the Goose Bay Pimples.
